The use of lead ornamentation in gardens gives the same sense of permanence and maturity such as that which is implied by stone walls, and established trees. Lead has been used in garden ornamentation and architectural detailing for centuries. Lead lasts virtually forever and it improves with time as its natural patina develops. It is this silvery grey patina that was so admired by landscape designers throughout the centuries. It is a color and texture that fits well with both greenscapes and hardscapes. Lead ornaments require no care and can be safely left outside all year round even in the harshest climates.

  • Rectangular Planter
  • Window Box

Planter boxes can be assembled into almost any size and shape. Those pictured here were produced for different designers to their specifications The pieces have a lip and base that is similar to those on our classic urn. Additional ornamentation can be applied as required. Planter boxes can be made simply, with only proportion, shape and appropriate rims and bases to define them or detailed ornamentation can be applied. This ornamentation can be in the form of motifs such as the stylized flowers shown here or logos, insignia or dates can be added as requested. Planter boxes can also be used as cisterns, which was a principal use in centuries past when they were catchments for rain water.

  • Athena fountain Spout

Though fountain spouts are designed to be mounted on masonry or other hard surface, they can easily be mounted anywhere you like. The water feature is installed by your plumber.

Art Nouveau Fantasy Fish Mask

This mask can be provided as a wall plaque or piped to function as an interesting fountain head. It can be supplied either ten or nineteen inches in diameter. It is typical of the later designs of the Arts and Crafts movement and clearly shows the transition towards the style known as Art Nouveau. The incorporation of oriental influences, particularly Japanese, into European art had occurred several decades before this piece was designed in the late 1890s is evident. The asymmetry of the piece is another characteristic of Art Nouveau.

Arcanthus Spout

Lead was traditionally used in rain water management systems on roofs. Gargoyles were frequently cast from lead to throw water away from the walls of a building. Henry III ordered that lead be used to prevent rain from damaging the tower of London. Later lead was used in Europe

The use of lead in fountain heads has a deep tradition.

Satyr Mask

Satyrs were legendary figures from Greek myth. Half man/half goat, they were followers of Dionysus, the god of agriculture and also of wine. Satyrs were raunchy fellows who drank wine copiously and lived in the woods where they pursued nymphs. This reputation was probably the reason that their images were popular in Victorian gardens. To the Victorians who were interested in classical themes, Satyrs were risqué. Height 14 inches, Width 10 inches Depth 4 inches

The Octagonal Urn

This simple, undecorated urn has graceful curves that contrast with the sharp lines that define the octagon. The eight surfaces give an interesting play of light as it changes during the day, casting some into shadow while highlighting others.
The Octagonal urn with Frieze

This is the Octagonal urn with the classic pattern at the top.

The Fieldmouse Urn
In 1909 the Bromsgrove Fieldmouse urn was described as a perfect ornament for the modern garden. It is a gracefully curved octagon. Each section of the octagon is relieved with images from nature in cable patterned surrounds. The images include those of a thrush, a dove, a frog and a squirrel. Secondary panels contain images of an oak leaf with acorn, grapevines, a Tudor rose and a Scottish thistle. A field mouse whimsically decorates the side and a Celtic-inspired frieze decorates the rim.

It offers a large planting area and
sufficient volume to support larger plants.
